Lycoris - The Spider Lilies

A great group of bulbs from China and Japan that are similar to the naked ladies  (Nerines).  Flowers are produced in the fall followed by the strap like foliage.  Flowers are carried on bare stems and are more or less recurved with prominent stamens protruding.  Plant in average well drained soil 7-10cm deep on the coast and twice as deep in colder areas.  In a few years you'll have clusters of flowers in fall when few other blooms are available.
